i thought that the difficulties on this route will be the climbing on dirt roads,
but the most problems i had were the temperatur and the elevation. the road gets a little better after the first pass at 4823m. -6 degrees C and high altitude cause not much sleep for me. above 4000 meters i get problems breathing and i have to take the cycling easy.

hey m@x, some great pics there in the Andes...you're wetting the appetite for us down in Peru. not sure if Anna let you know but her dad passed away 3 weeks ago....entonces estamos en holanda ahora. a tough time for all, but also an opportunity to spend more time with the family. she is strong and eternally optimistic as usual and we are heading back to the highlands of Guatemala on wednesday....getting further and further behind you. Nobu and Hiro are also still in Guatemala so hopefully we will meet them too. looks like you have had some good cycling company for the past few weeks. still travelling with the english cyclist? enjoy the andes....que te vaya bien Alister.. keep the journal coming...we really love the updates and pics and is a great inspirtation for us (when we get there 9 months later!!!) ciao
